Autumn 2021

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since the last blog post so I thought I'd do another update to let you know what's been happening and what's to come!

After a year-long break (thanks to COVID) I was finally able to return to Spain to complete my Máster and had another amazing two months reconnecting with friends, studying with some amazing guitarists, and performing in Alicante. It was amazing to come back with fresh eyes (and strings) and continue to learn; we focused on 20th century music, South American music, and chamber music. We also got a chance to do all of the things we missed out on last year: visiting the Alhambra guitar factory, eating lots of tapas, going to the beach, and exploring more of Alicante. It was hard to say goodbye to everyone but I'm already looking forward to our next meeting!

Upon my return in July, I began preparing for my debut on the IGF's Young Artist Platform and played my first concert at Kings Place, London, where I premiered a new work by Florence Anna Maunders, and gave a recital of works by 20th century women composers. My first concert back in the UK was a fabulous experience! In August, I made a guest appearance and performed a few songs with my fabulous friend, Jack Watson, at Liverpool Cathedral under the Peace Doves installation for his Songs from the Silver Screen recital.

In September, I have a few public concerts lined up: this Saturday (4th), a shared virtual concert for Ciclo de Conciertos de Guitarra Clásica, Misiones, with Jorge Santos and Daniel Wolff; on 18th September I'm playing Musica Argentina with the Woodside String Quartet; on 22nd September a solo recital for Christ Church's (Southport) Midweek Music concert series; and on 25th September I'll be on the faculty for Classical Minds' Technique Workshop which is an all day event on Zoom with a concert in the evening. All details for these events are on the 'Events/' section on my website, so please do check it out - it would be lovely to see you there!

I am now PG Cert qualified in Plucked Strings Teaching (University of Chichester/ESTA) after a year of wonderful classes with Helen Sanderson. It was a real eye-opening and inspiring period of study and so I'm looking forward to putting everything I've learned into my teaching practise. I'm starting teaching again this month and would welcome some new students so please get in touch if you fancy some lessons, whether in-person or online.

I'm not very good at updating the blog on this website, so please follow me on Facebook or Twitter for more regular updates!

Best wishes and hope to see you soon!
